Why did I decide to do this anthology?

The Roses is an Anthology created by six different authors; Andrea M. Mouser, Alda Mørkøre Nielsdóttir, MaKayla Decker, Laney Smith, Laurie Stacey and Twyla Rose. We had all worked together on another anthology called The Tenants Of Building 38, which raised money for The American Cancer Society. The Roses however was written to raise money for cystic fibrosis, hence all the proceeds will be donated to The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, to help the search for a cure for this illness.

My Sister in law was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis and sadly passed away before we could meet. Although I had never met her, her death deeply impacted me. Her life remains a big part of mine and I will always cherish her. I decided that the best thing I could do was to find a way not only donate to the search for the cure of CF but to raise awareness. I gathered my fellow authors and discussed with them what I wanted and asked for them to help. They were very willing, most of them had lost family members to some type of cancer or illness.

We titled this book The Roses because "65 Roses" is what some children with cystic fibrosis call their disease because the words are much easier for them to pronounce.
